About Me
Hello! I am Kaitlyn O’Brien and I am from the United States. I grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I double majored in Spanish and secondary education at Illinois Wesleyan University and I graduated this past May. I’ve studied in Spain, Mexico and Chile, and am very passionate about other cultures. I always knew that after graduating I would be teaching. However, I longed for another experience outside of the United States and found that the Auxiliar program offered just what I was looking for. It would allow for me to do what I love, while learning more and growing as a teacher and global citizen.
As a teacher I am excited to make an impact on students and assist elementary schoolers in improving their listening, reading, writing, and communication abilities. I am enthusiastic about building an inclusive, collaborative classroom and realize the diverse abilities among all students. As a teacher, it is my job to bridge any gap within their learning.
I have been living and teaching in Madrid for 3 months now and am very grateful for all that I’ve experienced. I really enjoy working with elementary students at my school and collaborating with the other teachers. I know the next 6 months will be even better than the last three!
