"Mind the gap" blared from inside the tube station. Frantically searching for the correct stop, we began to make our way through the beautiful city of London. Bright red double decker buses and old-fashioned black cabs whooshed past us, as we strolled along Westminster Bridge. The sky was a bright blue, and the sun was shining, a rare sight for the typically dreary city.
A few days after Christmas, my friends and I went to London for 5 days. There was so much to see, but we were able to do a lot in the few days we were there. Each day seemed to top the last. We started off seeing the city center, walking beside the London Eye and Big Ben. We walked to Westminster Abbey, and then to Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. We also went to Oxford and Regent Street, two of the major shopping streets. Everything was still decorated for the holidays and the city seemed to twinkle.
The following days we went to Buckingham Palace and then Notting Hill, roaming the colorful streets and wandering in and out of quaint shops. We made it to Abbey Road and took the classic photo. There was actually a long line of people on the street waiting to do the same. We visited the playful and decorative streets of Carnaby and had fish and chips in Camden. We also walked along the London Bridge. One highlight was afternoon tea at Fortnum and Mason, a beautiful department store with a tea room upstairs. For two and a half hours, we relaxed, enjoying the warmth of the room, and sharing laughs over Earl Grey tea and scones.
London was even better than I had imagined. Despite the colder weather, we had such a great time! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I definitely hope to go back someday.
Stay tuned for our next trip to Granada. :)
